Even as Livingway Church grows larger, we are doing our very best to keep our church a true family. It presents a real challenge, but one that we feel is a worthy goal.
One way we do this is to minister to our church family members in time of grief from the loss of a loved one or a time of surgery or hospitalization.
The Bible teaches us to show brotherly kindness and charity one to another.
“And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.” 2 Peter 1:7
When presented with such an opportunity to minister, we call upon faithful Livingway members that are committed this ministry of helping a fellow brother or sister at a moment’s notice. Obviously, due to the nature of this ministry, the participants must be willing to respond quickly since we have no way of predicting when such services will be needed.
But the Bible prepares us for that as well!
“…be instant in season, out of season;” 2 Timothy 4:2
This ministry provides hot meals delivered to the homes of those who experience such grief or health challenges. If you can cook, this is a ministry we trust you will join. Perhaps you do not cook, but you could be available to deliver the food that has been provided.
Why do we feel a need to provide such a ministry for our church family members? The passage found in Matthew explains it beautifully. When our King welcomes those of us who are the righteous and gives us our inheritance of the kingdom, it will be because we have, among other things, fed Him when He was hungry and visited Him when He was sick. When we, the righteous, ask the King when we ever fed Him or visited Him, this will be His reply:
“And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.” Matthew 25:40
We cannot feed Jesus in the flesh, but we can feed His beloved people. And, in doing so, He said that we have done these things unto Him. No greater motivation should be necessary! What a wonderful way to bless Jesus!
There is no joy like fulfilling God’s purpose for your Life.
