2 Chronicles 13:3 (NIV) “Abijah went into battle with an army of four hundred thousand able fighting men, and Jeroboam drew up a battle line against him with eight hundred thousand able troops.”
Have you ever felt like a battle line was drawn against you, like the odds weren’t in your favor? In life, there are always going to be times that seem like everything is against us and that our circumstances are so much bigger than we are, but if God is fighting on our side then we cannot lose, even if the odds are stacked against us.
Time and time again, God encourages us throughout His Word that we need to trust Him and fight for our faith. We must be willing to praise through the storm, worship through the uncertainties, and pray through the circumstances. These lines that are drawn against us will not be our end, but rather the proof of our faith. The valley is only making us stronger, preparing us for the mountain top. God does not lead His people into defeat; He gives them the victory through Christ Jesus.
Just like Abijah, even though he had fewer men, God made up the difference and became a strong hand in the midst of the battle. It did not matter what the circumstance looked like, it mattered who was fighting by his side. It was about who had already gone before him.
2 Chronicles 13:12-16 (NIV) “God is with us; he is our leader. His priests with their trumpets will sound the battle cry against you. People of Israel, do not fight against the Lord, the God of your ancestors, for you will not succeed. Now Jeroboam had sent troops around to the rear, so that while he was in front of Judah the ambush was behind them. Judah turned and saw that they were being attacked at both front and rear. Then they cried out to the Lord. The priests blew their trumpets and the men of Judah raised the battle cry. At the sound of their battle cry, God routed Jeroboam and all Israel before Abijah and Judah. The Israelites fled before Judah, and God delivered them into their hands.”
I want to remind you that wherever you stand, as long as God stands with you, you will not be defeated. God is faithful and is able to bring you out from whatever odds you face. All you need to do is rely on the Lord, His timing, and His strength. It’s not the doctors who heal you, nor the bank that provides for you, nor the government who keeps you safe. God is the source of every one of your needs. He is the Great I Am and not one of His children is forgotten in the battle. Keep your focus on the One who fights right beside you and not at the enemy you face. Your God is much bigger than your enemies. He is much greater than your circumstances. And He is on your side!
2 Chronicles 13:18 “…and the people of Judah were victorious because they relied on the Lord…”
The battle is not about the odds, it’s about your God!
Rely on Him!
